KIYES MWEN YE?

Mwen te lekol 40 minit de lakay mwen, kek fwa mwen pran moto men anpil nan fwa yo mwen fel a pye.

Papam tap travay nan leta, reponsab yon sant sante nan potay lewogan e manman m tap vwayaje nan antiy fe komes poul kap kontribye nan edikasyon nou. Mwen pat janm jwenn paranm ap domi lem leve e mwen pat janm we yo al domi anvanm. Anpil nan fanmi manmanm te gen posiblite nan moman an, mwen sonje chak vakans ale okay pou nal pase vakans avek fanmi manmanm.
Mwen pase plizye lekol, mwen te gen chans fe anpil eksperyans avek elev lekol mwen. Gen moman kote ke elev frapem ke yo pat dwe frapem e gen moman yo dim pawol ke fem plezi. Mwen sonje lem fenk vin nan lekol prive soti nan yon zon popile koman anpil elev te tretem paske m pat soti nan yon zon ki gen mwayen.

UNDER THE RUBBLE

'On a Tuesday in January of 2010, for no clear reason, my mother came to my school in Haiti to pick me up early. In Haiti, you don't usually leave school until your homework is done. The fact that my mother came and picked me up that particular day is a testimony for me that God loves every one of us and watches out for us. That day was when we had the big earthquake. I was sixteen and she brought me to one of the orphanages that my father ran. I went in and was sitting and talking with the little children when suddenly, the building started shaking and it collapsed on top of us. It was a three story building full of little children and I was on the bottom floor. I didn't know what had happened...and at that time, I didn't know much about God even though we were Catholic. While I was in that collapsed building, I remember hearing people screaming and I spoke to God. I told Him, 'if You save me, I will serve You.' I was crying and screaming to get out. A voi...

Mentoring Program Can Help End Child Slavery In Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE - Living in a tent after an earthquake left a million Haitians in the streets.  One woman named Orena Joseph says she cannot support her three daughters and is ready to give them away to foreigners if she can't find a good home for them.   Despite her desperation,  Orena  said she would never turn 11-year-old Betie and 6-year-old Gina over to a Haitian family, as tens of thousands of other poor parents have done.  “Not a Haitian family. Haitians will make them suffer,”  Orena   39, said. “They ... force the child to work like a animal. They don’t really take care of them.”  Deeply ingrained in the culture of the impoverished former slave colony, the practice of poor families giving away children to wealthier acquaintances or relatives is known in the native Creole as “restavek,” from the French words rester avec, or “to stay with.” Critics call it slavery. The children, they said, are taken in as servants, forced to w...
